“I want to journal, but I don’t have time…” Not only do I hear this all the time from clients, but I say it myself, and the other day I said this to my son. He was quiet for a few moments and then said, “Here’s a challenge for you Mom. I’m going to send you a list of seven random topics. For the next seven days, I challenge you to write for five minutes a day on one topic.” Well, that sounded doable (what with my busy schedule and all), so I accepted his challenge.
Seven days later, I finished the seventh topic and something interesting happened. Not only did I find the time, but I looked forward to it, and (big surprise) I noticed that I wanted to write longer than five minutes – that I actually did have the time. So, here’s a challenge for you: 7 topics in 7 days for 5 minutes.
Simple rules: For 7 contiguous days, write about one topic below (match the day to the number). Set your timer for 5 minutes…at the buzzer STOP!
