Give Yourself 5 Minutes…

“I want to journal, but I don’t have time…”  Not only do I hear this all the time from clients, but I say it myself, and the other day I said this to my son.  He was quiet for a few moments and then said, “Here’s a challenge for you Mom.  I’m going to send you a list of seven random topics.  For the next seven days, I challenge you to write for five minutes a day on one topic.”  Well, that sounded doable (what with my busy schedule and all), so I accepted his challenge.

Seven days later, I finished the seventh topic and something interesting happened.  Not only did I find the time, but I looked forward to it, and (big surprise) I noticed that I wanted to write longer than five minutes – that I actually did have the time.  So, here’s a challenge for you:  7 topics in 7 days for 5 minutes.

Simple rules:  For 7 contiguous days, write about one topic below (match the day to the number).  Set your timer for 5 minutes…at the buzzer STOP!

Topics:

1. Right now, I feel…

2. I smile when I think about…

3. I don’t have time for…

4. I remember…

5. I worry too much about…

6. I am grateful for…

7. This week I…

I would like to get your feedback, so please leave a comment and share your experience with this 5 minute challenge.

But if you travel far enough, one day you will recognize yourself coming down the road to meet yourself. And you will say – YES.
